Design Statement
I have always been intrigued by the sense of places in the context of time - how they feel as we move through them and how they hold their place while growing old with us. My architecture is enriched by how it animates life, how it responds to the daily rituals of our lives and how its role changes to create memories.
My designs are inspired by a dialogue between the context of changing dreams and the found environment. Each design is enlightened by its circumstances- opportunities and constraints of the site, views and patterns of sunlight, current green technologies and the craft of connecting materials. Simultaneously the architecture responds to create a context of experiences. The designs recognize the life of a building, accommodating the changing lives and dreams of its users.
My patrons are an integral part of the design process. Their participation makes each house unique in its conception. Designs evolve in dialogue. I believe a critical aspect of the process, the multitude of decisions, is the transference of ownership and stewardship. In the end it is their house, belonging to the moment and also belonging to their future.
