Artist’s Statement -
Peter maintains an architectural office and art studio on Bald Head Island, NC. His formal training included a masters degree at Washington University that resulted in an architectural practice of over twenty five years. After school a much more extensive informal education carried him around the world sketching and painting to document spaces and ideas he encountered. These studies eventually took on their own life and energy bringing him to the studio where he now resides.
Peter’s work derives its energy from a process of crossing concentrations, using oils, ink sketches, and architecture to inform and enhance each other. His compositions and perspectives seek to create settings for memories that have not yet happened or stories that are about to unfold. The spirit of these images stay unreal in the vibrant colors of his paintings and loose lines of his sketches.
